Should you side with Panam or Arasaka in Cyberpunk 2077?
Cyberpunk 2077
Choosing between Panam and Arasaka is one of the most consequential decisions in Cyberpunk 2077, and the two paths lead to very different outcomes for V, Night City, and the world at large. Here's what you need to know about each side before committing.
Siding with Panam (The Star ending path)
- Panam rallies the Aldecaldos nomad clan and, together with Saul Bright, launches a full assault on Arasaka Tower through a commandeered vehicle in the Maglev Tunnel system.
- The attack is costly — clan members Bob and Teddy die during the assault, and Saul is killed by Adam Smasher at the entrance to Mikoshi.
- However, the raid succeeds. The Aldecaldos destroy Mikoshi entirely, which collapses the Relic project and strips Arasaka of major assets and political power, leaving the corporation's future uncertain.
- Yorinobu's faction retains control of Arasaka post-coup, but the corporation is severely weakened.
- Panam assumes full leadership of the Aldecaldos and leads the clan south to Arizona. If you romanced her, the bond between V and Panam carries significant emotional weight into the ending.
Siding with Arasaka (The Devil ending path)
- V works alongside Hanako Arasaka and Goro Takemura to expose Yorinobu's murder of Saburo before the board of directors.
- Yorinobu's military coup still fires, killing most of the board — but Hanako's forces ultimately retake the Tower.
- Saburo Arasaka is restored in Yorinobu's body using Relic technology, essentially giving an immortal corporate patriarch even more power. The Relic project continues despite global protests.
- Arasaka makes peace with Militech and signs alliances with President Myers, cementing its dominance as a global megacorporation.
- V ends up on an Arasaka orbital station, effectively under the corporation's control, with Panam unable — or unwilling — to reach them.
Which should you choose?
For most players, siding with Panam is the more satisfying and narratively rewarding choice. You strike a genuine blow against corporate tyranny, Arasaka is left crippled, and V fights alongside people who actually care about them. The Arasaka path results in the corporation growing stronger than ever, with a borderline immortal Saburo back at the helm — a bleak outcome by any measure.
That said, if you want to see all the endings or experience the full story, both paths are worth playing through at least once.
