How to get the secret ending in Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077
Unlocking the secret ending in Cyberpunk 2077 — called (Don't Fear) The Reaper — requires two separate steps: making the right dialogue choices during the side job Chippin' In, then waiting patiently on the rooftop during Nocturne Op55N1.
Step 1: Choose the correct dialogue in Chippin' In
Near the end of Chippin' In, V and Johnny share a conversation at Johnny's unmarked grave in the Northern Oil Fields. You need to pick these three specific responses, in order:
- "Nah, fucked that up too."
- "What do you want from me?"
- "Ok. But as second chances go, this is your last."
These choices give Johnny a second chance and, critically, result in him asking V to call Rogue for a date — unlocking Blistering Love. Without these exact picks, the secret ending won't be available later.
Step 2: Wait on the rooftop during Nocturne Op55N1
When you reach the rooftop with Misty at the end of Nocturne Op55N1, you'll be presented with dialogue options to call Hanako, Rogue, or Panam for help. Do not select any of them. Simply leave the dialogue open and wait in silence for approximately 5 minutes (the exact time is 5:08, matching the length of the Blue Öyster Cult song the mission is named after). Johnny will then comment that it's hard to decide who "will die for you" and propose that V storms Arasaka Tower alone — a suicide run. Accept his offer to trigger the secret ending.
What makes this ending uniquely brutal:
- Manual saving is disabled for the entire mission, though autosaves occur at: the mission start, after reaching the mainframe level, and just before facing Adam Smasher.
- V's max health is reduced by 25% at the start and continues dropping by 1% at intervals — the longer you take, the harder survival becomes.
- If V dies, the credits roll immediately, playing out like the suicide ending. You can reload from the autosave checkpoints, so dying isn't a permanent game over.
- The first area throws two Arasaka Samurais, three max-level Special Agents, and two mechs at you right from the front entrance.
- You'll need to loot an access token from guards to call the elevator, then defend the lobby against waves of enemies including Juggernauts while waiting for it to arrive.
How it ends: If you successfully upload Alt and connect to Mikoshi, you'll be given a final choice — give your body to Johnny (leading to the New Dawn Fades/Temperance ending) or keep it for V (leading to the Path of Glory/The Sun ending). Notably, Rogue survives in both versions, which is unique to this path.
Get those Chippin' In dialogue choices right and steel yourself for the hardest run in the game — it's worth it for one of the most rewarding endings Cyberpunk 2077 has to offer.
